The wifi dongle on our Raspberry Pi is not blinking blue like it should. we are trying to access the pi through Ad-Hoc but the wifi is not popping up. This happens on multiple pis so we don't believe it to be a dongle issue. Any suggestions?

It seems that your wifi dongle is turning off. This could be from trying over draw power too much from the raspberry pi. If you can restart the pi and the dongle turns back on, then this would be the issue. If it doesn't turn back on the dongle itself could have burned out some of the electronics on the dongle from some manufacturing error.
You are free to try different dongles to see if you can different results

Hmm.. I removed the dongle and plugged it into the ground station laptop to see if it was broken. The computer recognized it as a wireless network USB adapter, and the LED came on. When I put it back in the Pi, it worked. Not sure what about that made it work, but I thought I'd put that here in case anybody else has this problem.
