I downloaded the newest version of OBS and it says, "The program can't start because MSVCP120.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
After downloading again and reinstalling, I got the same error.
What is your suggestion for fixing this?
Thanks,
Kendra

Did you make sure that you had the proper version for your computer. If you are running a 32 bit operating system and downloaded the 64 bit version of OBS this error could have popped up because of that.
You can check this in windows 7 if you click on computer tab in your search menu and look at version of operating system. On Windows 10 you can type in system into your search bar for the start menu and find it there.

I'm using the laptop that was given to us at the workshop using Windows 10 and 64 bit.
I downloaded the newest version of the installer (19.0.2) on the main page of the OBS download page. It says it supports Windows 10.

Should I try downloading the OBS Classic with the 64 bit version?

I downloaded the OBS Classic rather than the newer OBS Studio and it seems to open ok.

I will warn you that OBS on those i3 (Insperon 15) laptops takes up a large part of processing power. You will have to shut down almost everything else to be able to get a ok stream out of it. The ffmpeg method works much better since it is a lot more lightweight than OBS, the ffmpeg command takes the stream and provides a pipeline to the local computer and out to the stream.live website. If you have a beefier laptop then running OBS won't be a problem.

Ok, so the ffmpeg version instead with the laptops from the workshop?
The email from Shane read: "Streaming via VLC/OBS: This variant is recommended if you are using a windows 7 or a low spec windows 10 computer (such as the ground station laptop you received at the workshop or one with similar specs i.e. i3, 4GB DDR3 RAM): "
and, "Streaming via ffmpeg: This method is more processor intensive, if you have set up a new ground station computer that has an i5 and 8GB of Ram (or better) you should not have issues streaming via ffmpeg. This variant works best with windows 10. "

I'm going to say that the email was wrong, ffmpeg is the light weight process and OBS is the heavy weight process. You can run both to check out which runs better but I'm going to say that OBS is going to run poorly on the i3 laptops.

Thanks, Kendra To fix this you need to go to microsoft's website and install the .Net 4.7 package. There is also a thread saying you need to install the vcredist_x64 package from microsoft but I cant recall if i installed that or not.
