I know next to nothing about networking and radio frequency. However, I was looking at ways to optimize our Ubiquiti connection so that we wouldn't lose connection in flight. I came across this article about channel width, and it says that a width of 30-50MHz is best choice for most cases, and ideal for high-performance PtP links. Our equipment is set to a channel width of 5MHz. I'm not sure about interference in the area, but would widening the channel allow for higher quality video transmission? I'm a bit confused as to what this affects. Thanks!

As far as I understand it, higher frequencies offer higher throughputs but worse penetration and connection distance. 30-50 Mhz would give you a more reliable connection but your throughput would flatline.
For comparison, that's why the 900 Mhz RFD systems work better at max range, but are always so slow. If it takes over 30 seconds to deliver a single picture on RFD, imagine how long it would take to stream video over 30 Mhz!
Annnd I just reread your question and realized I misunderstood. You were asking about channel width, not frequency. My mistake! I know nothing about the best channel width, good question.

When we were considering the channel width we were wanted to get the most range out of our system.
In RF channel width means how much data you can fit into a connection at any one point in time. Which means that a larger bandwidth would allow for a higher resolution video to be streamed, but there is the risk that you will conflict with other systems operating at the same frequency. Usually when your looking at a RF system you have to balance one attribute vs another. So if you work more for one aspect another feature will suffer. If you find some settings that work well with the Ubiquiti system, let us know so we can try out what you did.
